COVID-19: Help food insecure UCLA students

Prior to the crisis, 1/3 of UCLA students (and 40% of UC students) were food insecure, which means they struggled to gain regular access to food. As the crisis worsens, this struggle is spreading to more and more of the UCLA community.

Usually, UCLA's Community Programs Office (CPO) has a Food Closet on campus that is reliant on food donations from local stores, and is open to all of its students. However, given the COVID-19 lockdown, the closet unfortunately had to close. This statewide lockdown also means that families are losing their sources of income, and are in immediate need of help. As the impact of the crisis continues to grow, the demand for food is significantly higher than what was originally anticipated.

More than ever, the students urgently need our help in securing food so that they can focus on their studies and stay healthy during the pandemic. This is the time to come together as a community to help those who are most vulnerable. As a double UCLA alumna and fellow citizen, I believe in the collective power that we have to help students make it through this difficult time.

Any donation you provide will make a real difference, as 100% of it goes directly to feed students. The funds will be distributed as we hit monetary milestones. Finally, please spread the word about our fundraising efforts so that we can get as much help as we can.
