No other ethnic group in the United States has seen more deaths than African Americans. For more than 40 years, African American urban communities have seen disinvestment and inequality. African American communities have the lowest life-expectancy rate, are predominantly food deserts, have poor access to health care, high unemployment and little to none economic development. Many large non profit have received funds over decades to support these communities, however, those funds have not created any change on the ground and are usually used up paying for high salaries within organizations.
The COVID-19 African American Relief Fund, is a national fund and the first of its kind where there are no salaries as everyone is a volunteer, to help ensure that all of the donations received go directly into the hands of individuals and businesses that have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 virus within African American communities.
Donations are used for small business grants to help businesses pay their rents and retain employees, fresh groceries and deliveries to seniors and families with the children, and protective gear to first line COVID-19 responders. The long-term goals of the fund include building out affordable housing, medical facilities and fresh grocery stores in African American urban communities.
Your support and contributions will enable us to get funds directly to the Black Communities Nationally by meeting our Immediate goal of $1M and the long-term post-Covid-19 goals of $100MM to improve health conditions of the black community while helping to keep businesses in operation during this crisis.
