Pay It Forward Sacramento

One thing that has become clear in this time of quarantine, illness, and economic distress - we need community now more than ever. To date, Sacramento, Placer, and El Dorado counties have a combined total of more than 1300 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and more than 55 deaths*. It is projected that the Sacramento metro area could lose more than 33,000 jobs by Summer, 2020**. Those affected are not mere statistics - they are our neighbors, our colleagues, our friends, our families, our loved ones, our community. 

My name is Andrew Phillips, and I’m a high school science teacher in the greater Sacramento area. I decided to start “Pay It Forward Sacramento” in order to give back to the community I have come to love so much. My family has been blessed enough to have continued employment, continued health, and continued food and shelter security throughout these trying times. Not all are so lucky. The mission of Pay It Forward Sacramento is simple: to fundraise money to give back to our neighbors who need it most. With Pay It Forward Sacramento, 100% of proceeds will be donated to local food banks and homeless shelters in Sacramento, Placer, and El Dorado counties to ensure that our most disadvantaged community members have the basics they need to survive this crisis. It’s time for all of us to join together as a community and lift each other up; any amount helps, no matter how small. 

Giving is great, but receiving is great too! That's why we are also giving away REWARDS*** to our donors as a thank you for helping us fundraise. Our rewards tiers are set up as follows:

$10+ donation will receive a set of 3 stickers with our Pay It Forward Sacramento logo!
$50+ donation will receive 3 stickers and a t-shirt with our Pay It Forward Sacramento logo!
$150+ donation will receive all lower level rewards plus a custom-made hardwood charcuterie board with our Pay It Forward Sacramento logo!
$500+ donation will receive all lower level rewards plus I WILL SHAVE MY HEAD (or not, your call)****


Individual donors are welcome to pool their money and donate as a group to attain higher rewards. And yes, I'm serious. This is for charity!

***In order to receive physical rewards such as stickers, t-shirts, etc, donors must be willing to provide a delivery address in the greater Sacramento area. Donors from outside the Sacramento area should can contact us to arrange delivery of rewards.

****If multiple donors reach these levels of donations then the shaving of head will be determined by a majority vote of the donors. Donors may vote in favor of, or in opposition of, shaving. Individuals may make multiple donations in order to increase their number of votes. In the event of a "tie", the final decision on whether or not to shave will be made by my wife, Pamela. She doesn't know that yet... I'd better be extra-nice to her...
