COVID Relief Fund for Joseph Hernandez Family

Donation protected
Dear movement family, friends, colleagues, and allies,

If there is one thing these trying times have reminded us of it is that we are all connected in struggle, and more powerfully, we are connected by the resilience that continues to flourish in our communities generation after generation. Unfortunately, the current pandemic has had a disproportionate impact on the very communities we serve. This also means our own community leaders are not exempt from facing hardship and loss.

As a movement family, we are calling on all of you to come forward and support our brother Joseph Hernández from Shiprock, NM.  Joseph is an amazing warrior for justice and liberation of our indigenous communities from the NAVA Education Project team, who recently lived through the devastating loss of his mother, Rita Mae Cason, due to COVID-19.

To the Hernández family: We see you. We hear you. We love you. We stand alongside you.

His family is mourning this great loss, and we as his community and colleagues are devastated. We want to help them by contributing to Rita Mae Cason's funeral costs and other expenses to help support Joseph’s family as they continue to care, organize, and empower their community who are the forefront of this pandemic.

This is our time to uplift the values we live by and support one another, so in that way we declare loudly that: We are kin. Your struggle is our struggle. Our medicine is your medicine.
