COVID Relief for Madison Families '20-'21

We are so grateful for the ways the Madison community came together in support of families experiencing economic hardship due to COVID-19 last spring.  Throughout the fall months, the economic crisis has deepened for so many families in our community. Access to resources varies widely across our student population, and some of our families are facing extremely difficult situations. Students and families have shown so much strength and resilience, and yet they continue to experience heartbreaking challenges, such as:
-  inability to pay rent and utility bills
-  inability to pay their other monthly bills, including internet access so their children can attend school online
-  inability to purchase groceries to cook healthy meals for all of their young ones that now spend all day at home 
-  not having care for their children during the day
-  managing growing mental health challenges due to online learning struggles, isolation and family stressors

The Madison faculty and staff are working around the clock to support our families however we can, and with the help of amazing community partners, we are supporting our diverse student body with their diverse needs. However, resources are running thin everywhere, and as the pandemic continues, needs are intensifying. 100% of funds from this campaign will go to support Madison High School students and families with basic needs like rent and utility bill assistance, grocery store gift cards, and other emergency financial needs. Priority will be given to immigrant and refugee families and families who cannot access government aid. I am the Community Agent at Madison, and I will be working closely with Administration and the Outreach Team to organize food and fund distribution. I will post updates here that include how many Madison families we are able to support with the funds.
