The second wave of COVID-19 has hit India hard. With very high density of population and a large population, an pandemic of this proportion has overwhelmed the healthcare system. Sewa and its organizations worldwide were one of the first to swing into action on the ground. We are posting regular updates and pictures on this page of our work for the last 3 weeks. So how are we helping during the 2nd wave and how can we help do more ?

Currently during the 2nd wave over 1000 and growing volunteers are serving in various forms, from a digital helpdesk, information campaigns around Plasma donation, distributing medical essentials to old-age homes, orphanages, arranging oxygen concentrators for the sick and at relief centres and cremation/last rites for the departed.

Through its partner organizations & volunteers across 20+ provinces of India, its volunteers have setup Covid Care Centres to provide isolation centres with sources of Oxygen. These centres are manned by its volunteers.

As of 9th May 2021,  Sewa Canada International is supporting Immediate Relief Work in 8 provinces of India along the length and breadth of the country -
 
·       Providing 205 Oxygen Concentrators and approximately 3000 pieces of 02C Accessories, Oximeters, Thermometers in Covid Care   Centres in Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur & Punjab.
·       Oxygen level and temperature checks among vulnerable communities and densely populated Bastis & areas.
·       Food Relief to the sick and needy, impacted COVID or the ongoing lockdowns in many provinces.
·       Performing the onerous tasks of cremations and last rites of passage for the victims whose bodies go unclaimed.
·       Vaccination Drives and subsidizing vaccination for frontline volunteers and the needy.
·       Supplying masks, sanitizers, medicines and sanitization drives in impacted areas.
·       Support costs for setup and operations of COVID Care Centres


For long term relief in anticipation of 3rd & 4th Waves

Sewa Canada International plans to help setup and contribute to efforts to set up Oxygen plants and distribution system for medical Oxygen at budget hospitals in rural, under-served areas, serving the under-privileged. The number of 02 plants we can setup will depend on funds raised.

We also plan to work on mitigating the long term social impacts on the marginalized, the under-privileged, widows and children who have lost parents or lost the only breadwinner in the family.


100% of your donation is transferred to to the effort on the ground for immediate relief and long term relief. All donations are tax deductible in Canada. Tax receipts will be issued automatically by GoFundMe via PayPal Giving Fund
