COVID-19 has brought about a tough and unprecedented time for all people, especially those who are at-risk for infection. Our capabilities to simply go to the grocery store to get necessities or for medical professionals to have access to adequate precautionary supplies have drastically been altered.
When this came to mind for me, as a 16 year old high school student, I knew I could combine my interest and skills in web design to develop an online platform to connect those in need with those who can help - COVID Connections (covidconnections.com). My platform assists those who need help with errands like grocery shopping by connecting them to local volunteers.
From what started as a local grassroots effort in Long Beach, CA, around the time online school began has quickly spread to multiple cities across the United States, encompassing our mission of connecting those able and those in need. We have been able to help more than 200 people with deliveries and have had great feedback, inspiring us to bring COVID Connections to a nationwide-scale.
In this fundraiser, COVID Connections will be allocating raised funds to (1) groceries for those at-risk and low income, (2) supplies for our medical professionals on the front line, and (3) various smaller efforts such as ensuring those in need have a mask and gloves. Raised funds will additionally only be utilized for areas we currently support; thus, we would be grateful for your help in spreading the word, so our efforts can have a nationwide impact.
COVID Connections is fortunate to have leaders from our various regions to back this fundraiser in their area. If you would like to donate, please specify the region where you would like your donation to be directed towards.
