Matthew is a VA Nurse that is Thankfully a COVID 19 SURVIVOR!!!
Prior to being dx'd and hospitalized, Matt volunteered as a Pop Warner Coach for last 23yrs with SouthWest Colts! He employed as a VA Clinic Nurse during day and Private Duty Nurse at night. Most Importantly he's a Husband, Proud Dad of 5 Adult Children. Matt Jr., Jonathon, Jarron, Jamir and Jaiviana. Jamir just graduated from Notre Dame and Jaiviana is entering her Jr yr at Brockport College.
Matthew was hospitalized on April 5th, placed on ventilator until April 19th. Eventually discharged home May 20th. He now attends PT/OT 2xs every week to regain leg strength. Relearning to walk, dress and independently complete ADL's. He requires 24hr supervision for safety and sufferers from neuropathy to his feet. Making him susceptible to foot injuries and hindering him walking without difficulty. His heart has been affected by COVID now requiring new heart medications for tachycardia ( new dx). The foot neuropathy causes him insomnia d/t the pin like sensations that do spark in his feet.
Its unknown if and when Matt would be able to return to work. He generous VA work family donated PTO for his pay to continue but has now used up those hours.
We are soliciting assistance to help offset our living expenses. Your donations would be greatly appreciated!
