Chemo Pill for Emily

Emily Meixell has been battling Melanoma since November 2016, when a lump was discovered in her armpit during a routine doctor visit. She endured an entire year of immunotherapy, and this treatment seemed to do the trick. She married the love of her life in May 2018 and was feeling hopeful that her cancer journey was behind her.  During a routine maintenance scan in November 2018, a new spot was discovered on Emily's liver. Since then, Emily's Melanoma has spread throughout her body. Immunotherapy has proven ineffective for her this time around, but through the innovation and fighting spirit of Emily, her wife Erica, her family and friends, and her amazing doctors at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, she has been going through chemotherapy treatments, which has kept the cancer at bay - but it will never cure her. Emily's doctor wants her to try a chemotherapy pill, but it has not been approved yet for use by melanoma patients, so her insurance denied her doctor's request for the drug. The cost for this drug out of pocket is a whopping $15,000/month. 

As you can imagine, Emily has not been able to work for many months, and like most of us, she doesn't have that kind of money just sitting in the bank. That’s why her friends and family are working together on this fundraiser. We believe it's possible to raise enough money to help Emily pay for this medication, which will go a long way towards fighting her cancer, so she can get back to living her best life once again!
