Only 18 Days To Help a Dear Garden Friend, Hillary Maurer
Please help us reach a fundraising goal of $5,000 for a person close to our hearts in the Portland Garden community.
Along with thousands of other Oregonians this summer, Hillary Maurer, a PP&R horticulturist, and her husband Patrick, lost the older home they were renovating, including their van and boat. The van held all their tools and camping gear essential for working on the home at its rural site near Gates, Oregon.
While insurance will cover much of the loss, there are steep deductibles – nearly $5,000 – that are a significant barrier to the couple moving forward with rebuilding. This GoFundMe campaign will use any funds raised to pay down Hillary 's and Patrick's deductibles, so they can get on with rebuilding what they lost in the fire.
My fellow board members and I, serving Friends of Peninsula Park Rose Garden, have worked with Hillary for more than 10 years. We know the devotion she brings to the rose garden and the rest of the parks under her responsibility. Her work, expertise, and friendship have given us all a great gift over the years. We want to give some back by helping Hillary and Patrick cover their insurance deductibles, so they can get on with rebuilding what they lost.
