Couzens-Lake Media Needs Your Support!

Hi, my name is Edward Couzens-Lake.

I'm an author, copywriter, blogger, ghostwriter and occasional broadcaster.

I established Couzens-Lake Media in 2013 as an 'umbrella' name to cover all of the work that I do as a writer-all of the above-plus aspects of media work that I need to learn if I am also to offer that service to my clients, for example, podcasts and film making.

I've worked hard to establish myself in the media market. it's a highly competitive business that sees any freelancer such as myself having to 'swim with the sharks' from day one (ie) the big media companies and their partners who have the sort of advertising and marketing budgets for a month that would serve me well as living expenses for an entire year.

But I love the challenge!

I've developed a niche as a ghost-writer, the art of writing material in the name of, and on behalf of someone else. That means that whilst their name may appear on the cover of the book or at the foot of the article or blog, it was written, for them, by me.

I always say to people you can't have an ego if you work as a ghost-writer because none of the praise and acclaim for a piece of good work heads your way, it all goes to the client.

My business was thriving. I'd written several books in a short time, including the life stories of former Norwich City and Wales international footballer Jeremy Goss and Keith Deller, the shock winner of the BDO World Darts Championship in 1983.

By the end of 2022, I'd got to the stage where I wanted to offer some sort of supported scheme for those individuals who wanted to commit their life stories to print but couldn't afford the costs involved, specifically the publishing, printing and distribution costs.

So many people have great stories to tell...and want to share them with the world but, sadly, never have the opportunity.

I wanted to put that right and was going to commit the first part of 2023 to setting that up.

Then, in February 2023,, I was suddenly and very seriously taken ill with double pneumonia and sepsis, the end result of which was seven weeks in hospital, including two prolonged stays in intensive care and time spent under sedation with ventilator support.

The rest of that year was spent in recovery and convalescence. I'm still suffering long term side effects from the sepsis to this day and its rare for me, at present, to go through an entire day without needing a sleep at some point.

Needless to say, not only did my idea of the publishing support have to be abandoned, I nearly lost my life and business as well.

I have been working as hard as I possibly can to rebuild both my life and work.

But its been a struggle, including financially.

So I am looking for help and support from GoFundMe. For myself (I'll be honest about that) and, in the medium term, to re-start my scheme whereby I offer support to others in the form of heavily subsidised costs so they can tell their life story.

I'm happy. of course, to talk to, else meet with anyone who'd like to offer their support, in whatever form it takes.

You can contact me via my website. Just type couzenslakemedia into the search engine.

I'm proud and am rather down that I have had to resort to doing this.

But I am resolute as well.

Thanks for reading.
