Dear Friends and Family,
I am excited to share with you about a new chapter of my life. These past few years, God has taught me so much about what it means to not only have a relationship with Him but also how to completely surrender every aspect of my life. Although I have struggled with many fears and inhibitions, God has given me an overwhelming sense of peace about what He has called me to pursue.
As I have grown up and continued to deepen my relationship with the Lord, I have felt a strong passion for missions but have struggled with fears about supporting myself financially. Those fears led me to spend most of my junior year at Samford trying to decide between pursuing full time missions or a career in healthcare. Thankfully, we serve a God who is much bigger than our struggles and fears. He revealed to me that the only reason I was considering healthcare was for the comfort of financial stability. The truth is that I don’t have to know how things will work financially because God knows. All I am called to do is follow Him in His will for my life and trust that He will provide. After continuous prayer, God gave me complete peace about surrendering my fears and pursuing full time missions.
A few months ago I stumbled upon an organization called Youth with A Mission (YWAM) and was immediately intrigued. After much research and time in prayer for God’s guidance, I decided to apply and trust that God would lead me in the right direction. I am so excited to announce that I have officially been accepted to the Waves Discipleship Training School (DTS) in Sunshine Coast, Australia starting September 2018!
YWAM is a worldwide organization consisting of Christians from many cultures, age groups, and Christian traditions. They are dedicated to serving Jesus throughout the world, and are united in a common purpose to know God and make Him known. Participating in a DTS gives me the opportunity to grow in my intimacy with God and discover my part in His purposes for the world. The program is divided into two parts: the lecture phase and the outreach phase. In the lecture phase, I will receive intense Bible training from missionaries around the world and have the opportunity to host a variety of local outreach and evangelism events. In the outreach phase, we will travel overseas and apply what we have learned in unreached places around the world.
My intention in completing this DTS is to return with a deeper understanding of God and His word, to effectively share my testimony and experiences for His glory, to boldly serve and love every person the way He does, and to lay a solid foundation to which God can continue to work and build upon in me. I have no idea what He will call me to do after this, but I do know that it will be so much greater and more fulfilling than anything I could ever come up with on my own.
In order to go, I need to raise $11,700 and am confident that God will provide the means. To help me reach this goal, I am also selling Comfort Color T-shirts for $25. Whether it’s through prayer or finances, I would love to have your support to help me follow the path that God has set before me.
