Courtney's Immigration Lawyer Fees!

Even though Taylor and I are happily married and I've been living here a while now, permanent residency is still a long way away for me; because of that, so is being able to truly start moving forward with and building our life and future together.

Because of some crossed wires and poor timing early on, the legitimacy of our marriage is under speculation and we are hoping to hire a lawyer asap to smooth the whole process over and help us make sure we don't miss any steps in proving on paper just how much we really want to be together. Unfortunately, the fact that I am still not allowed to work in this country means we just can't afford for Taylor to be sole provider as well as cover thousands of dollars in legal fees (we've learned that with lawyers there isn't a middle ground, free immigration aid is only available to the very impoverished, and the lowest fee outside of that seems to be a minimum of $4500USD).

He  has been an absolute saint taking care of and supporting me this past year: paying all of our bills, getting any household items and medications I've needed despite my not being elligible for his health coverage yet, taking care of our dogs and the cat I brought into his life, and making sure I have transportation and a means not to feel trapped in our house all the time. With every application we have already had to fill out on my behalf (and still a handful more to come) costing hundreds of dollars a piece added to all that, the guilt of putting the entire financial burden on Taylor overwhelming for me, and so is the stress of being responsible for all these expenses for him.

The cost of a lawyer to help us along the rest of this process is steep, I know, but having someone who knows what they're doing on our side would be a huge step in reducing stress and increasing efficiency in this immigration ordeal. 

Anyone who knows me very well knows how much it kills me to have to ask anyone to put themselves out for our sake, but I truly feel we have no other options at this point now that things are no longer going smoothly-but-slowly. Even a dollar or two from enough people willing and able to help would make a huge difference.

We just want to get this long process over with as easily and quickly as we can so we can get started on saving for our future together as soon as possible, and even reaching a portion of this goal would be a tremendous help and relief. I can't tell you how much I appreciate any donations that might come of this, no matter the size.
