Courtney's Mission to Nakuru Kenya

I'm Courtney, a 32 year old activist and social worker.
Over the past few years of education and experience, I have developed a passion for Women's issues. I am working to take my passion to the other side of the globe. I truly believe that the best way to help someone is with feet on the ground, walking beside them. I also firmly believe that traveling and emersing yourself in other environments is one of the best ways to grow and learn.
I am embarking on a mission trip in July 2018 to Nakuru Kenya with No Ordinary Women (NOW)- an organization that is near and dear to my heart.
"No Ordinary Women is a non-profit that seeks to provide mentorship, education, and resources for women locally and globally to determine and embrace unique purpose and value. We achieve this through local leadership and spiritual courses for women and young girls, as well as through the sales of gorgeous hand rolled paper bead jewelry from our Sister Company, Oasis, located in Nakuru, Kenya. During our trip, NOW will be collaborating with our sister organization , the Nakuru Oasis Community Based Organization (NAOCBO) - which focuses on enhancing the emotional, psychological and economical status of women through entrepeneuriship, industry and business.
The NAOCBO participates in and spearheads a number of efforts within the area of Nakuru, Kenya including:
-Workshops and trainings for women around business and leadership skills, entrepeneurship, beadwork, sewing.
- Environmental conservation efforts.
- Waste management through the use of recycled products that are used to create jewlery and other goods (such as those sold through NOW in the USA).
-Reducing deaths caused by water related illnesses by providing water filtration systems to families.
-Providing counesling, fellowship, and spiritual nourishment within the community.
