Danielle's Courage to Change

Donation protected
We lost Danielle Christine Knifton on Tuesday 03/17/15. Our Dani passed on at 5:30 am from an aneurysm, brought on by prolonged drug use.  I'd like Danielle's story to be more of a call to action.  I'm not going to sugar coat it because it is our truth and it was a long and painful journey for anyone who loved Danielle and witnessed her struggle. I would like to think that my daughters story will effect a change - even for one person - because even if it is one person, that's a precious life. Danielle was a courageous spirit that loved all living things, would do anything for a friend, and loved her son with every ounce of her being. She had a great love of family and was loved by anyone that came to know her.  We miss her terribly and plead that her message and untimely death is not forgotten.  "Courage to Change" was a tattoo that she bore and a message to herself.  We always think we have time to make things right, or to change our habits, or to reach out to a friend or family member. The reality is that we don't.  Whatever change you want to see in your life - DO IT NOW! Have the courage to change those things in your life that are not contributing to your health, happiness and future. Please hear this message. Reach out for help when you need it - take the help that is offered - do the work that is required.  If you are fortunate to be in the position to help - do it! Take the time and make the effort.  Help the people in your life, or cross your path, that are crying out for help.  Be The Change You Wish To See In The World.  Our only comfort is that Danielle is now at peace and in the arms of our Lord and her loved ones that have passed before her.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, you donate - however small or large - to her Courage to Change campaign that will be divided equally between One Safe Place (One SAFE Place provides education, intervention and safety to a community affected by domestic and sexual abuse) and House of Hope (House of Hope provides a safe, nurturing environment for substance abusing and substance dependent women. Their mission is to help them regain their self- awareness, integrity, and dignity and learn how to live life without alcohol and drugs. They also seek to help them become financially responsible, re-establish family ties and be reunited with their children when possible) - both excellent Redding organizations.

Of course, if you prefer, you can make checks out directly to these two outstanding organizations in honor of Danielle.

Now Danielle is finally at peace. Please hold her close, as we do, in your mind and in your spirit. Remember the meaning of this tragedy.  Let us find and encourage within ourselves, within our society, those gifts that make each of us special—the extraordinary beauty of the human heart.

The family would like to thank our friends and the Redding community for all of their sincere words of sympathy and support during this difficult time.  We are eternally grateful <3
