Courageous Christopher's Battle

Christopher is an 8 year old boy who is so full of life despite the complications he faces everyday due to a life threatening brain tumor. He was diagnosed in July of 2011 & life hasn't been the same for him since. Christopher had emergency brain surgery to relieve hydrocephalus & tonsillar herniation. Christopher had... a shunt put in to relieve the pressure. Since then he has also had surgery to insert an ommaya reservoir catheter for injections of interferon (chemo-like drug). Since July 2011 we have tried several rounds of intracystic interferon which seemed to work for 3 months. After 3 months we continued to see growth. A new treatment was published this past summer that we decided to try.....Pegylated Interferon Treatments. The same type of (chemo like drug) but administered through an injection in the leg. We have tried 2 rounds of that & received great news after the first round. So, we decided to do a second round in which we received devastating news on September 10th, 2013. Christopher's tumor showed growth again. At this point we have basically hit a brick wall with treatment options. At this time there is no more treatment options available for this type of tumor. As parents it breaks our hearts to hear this......our next step will be surgery. Christopher will have an Endoscopic Endonasal Approach. He is scheduled for surgery November 6th, 2013. We ask for prayers that we have no complications & a speedy recovery! Our goal is to enjoy the time we have now & make as many memories as we can. Christopher lives a normal life & we want to continue his life as normal as we can. Christopher copes with his cancer by singing songs from his ALL TIME FAVORITE COUNTRY SINGER LUKE BRYAN!! He someday hopes to be just like Luke Bryan :) Christopher calls himself "FAMOUS" because of how he sings karaoke & has been interviewed by the news! Maybe one day his wish will come true to be face to face with Luke Bryan :) To see Christopher right now, you would think nothing is wrong with him! His physical appearance does not match his MRI scans. He can literally break it down rocking out to some Luke Bryan music!! He truly is a walking miracle. We know God performs miracles everyday & we continue to pray that we will continue to receive a miracle with Christopher's life. God's love is everlasting & He is so faithful.....He continues to bless our family everyday. We stand strong knowing that He will not give us more than we can handle & we continue to hold on to HOPE that our child will one day be "TUMOR FREE!"
