So maybe you are wondering what Johnstone is up to these days. It’s spring time and I am usually loaded up with bikes and snowboards trying to camp and couch surf through the shoulder season.
This winter I discovered a lump in my throat, along with very swollen lymph nodes, and then went through a barrage of tests, biopsies and scans. I was diagnosed with head and neck cancer in February. I have started an aggressive regiment of weekly chemotherapy and daily radiation treatments in Montrose, CO at the San Juan Cancer Center.
My insurance has been helpful, but there is a big difference between the total cost of my claims, and what they have paid so far. I am also currently not working, and instead focusing on my health and healing.
And that, of course, is where this GoFundMe comes in. Asking for help is hard, really hard. I want to be 100% transparent about the amount I have asked for. I simply took the costs of my 60 claims this year so far ($138,491.90) and subtracted the amount paid by Anthem ($96,088). No more, no less. This money not only helps cover the actual chemo and radiation treatments, but also helps with other costs like the surgeries to implant my chemo port and feeding tube, the bone biopsy, PET scans, medications, and the list goes on.
Thank you very much, I really appreciate your support during these difficult times.
