CoSchool's community rally

Tax deductible
10 days ago, my organization CoSchool fell victim to a nasty case of bank fraud/robbery in Bogotá, Colombia. Over the course of 7 hours our bank account was systematically drained via a series of transfers, purchases, and withdrawals. It was, to put it bluntly, a nightmare.

For a small organization like ours, this represents a big punch in the mouth. Particularly because the chances of getting the funds back from the bank or help from the police are slim in Colombia.

However, we have been blown away by the messages of support that we have received during this time from friends in Colombia and beyond. Many allies, friends, and family have offered advice, moral support, and resources to help us move forward and resolve the situation as soon as possible. And when we thought about it, we realised that the type of programs that CoSchool run are just about perfect antidote to the criminal activity by which we suffered.  Over the last 3 years (see our impact report here ) we have developed programs that really help youngsters develop key social & emotional skills: decision making, empathy, perseverance, courage, self-management. It's possible that those people who stole from us on sunday never had the chance when they were young to really get to grips with these skills.

So, what if instead of being "victims" here we could instead use the event to promote and celebrate what we do and use it as a chance to give more young people a vital opportunity to activate their potential.

Well, it just so happens that we have one of our major programs kicking off in 2 months time. CAMPCO: the summer camp that mixes kids from disadvantaged backgrounds together to learn life changing leadership & character skills. In order to reach 375 students,
We set a fundraising goal of $50,000 for this project. The good news is we managed to reach $35,000. We
are still $15,000 short (enough for one entire two week camp for 125 students) and we thought, this is a good moment to ask our community if they can help us out.

What's more, the donations will be collected by our Fiscal Partner Unreasonable Institute (501c3) in the USA: hopefully making them as tax effective as possible for anyone involved.

This is a time when more than ever before, we need our community to rally around us and show the world that despite the obstacles in our path, we are only just gettting started....

Thank you. Your support truly makes a difference.
