<div>CoRy's in the hospital with severe fatigue and neurological symptoms. He has been living with epilepsy and a CFS/ME since childhood, but these new symptoms became even more serious and scary. Over the past month, he experienced difficulty breathing, altered motor skills, slurred and extremely slowed speech, and inability to stand. So it became a medical emergency.

<div>He's been in Providence St. Joseph's Medical Center in Burbank for three days as of today (July 16th), and it looks like he'll be staying there longer. 
</div>

<div><strong>To give you an idea of the finances: These hospital stays have been over $10,000 per night. With the doc visits, the overnight hospitalization, the tests, etc., these past few days could end up costing upwards of $100,000.</strong>

<div>This morning (July 16th) he was speaking easier, still very fatigued, and as he said, his brain fog was "more like a Scottish Summer than a Scottish Winter".
</div>

<div><strong>Here's the LONG version (to the best of my knowledge):</strong>
</div>
<div>Early in June 2020, CoRy began noticing some abnormal neurological symptoms. By early-July the symptoms had become rather concerning and CoRy called on his badass bud Alex to take him to the doctor. 
</div>

<div>He had been experiencing higher rates of fatigue for the last five months, which got better, then came crashing back in with difficulty breathing, altered motor skills, slurred speech, and inability to stand.
</div>

</div>
<div>On Wednesday, July 8th, Alex took CoRy to get a COVID test (results came in on Sunday: he was negative, CoRy 1, COVID 0).
</div>

</div>
<div>On Sunday, July 12th, EMTs came to CoRy's house and said all his vitals were good, but his heart rate was on the lower end. They said not to go to the hospital.
</div>

</div>
<div>On Monday, July 13th, Alex drove him to see the doctor who ordered blood tests for ataxia (no results yet). The doc first looked into toxicity levels from bad epilepsy medication (still waiting on results there). The doc thought that CoRy might have received a bad batch of meds.

<div>Alex took CoRy home, and the symptoms worsened a good deal overnight. 
</div>

<div>On Tuesday, July 14th, CoRy's dad, Greg Wyszynski, took CoRy to the neurologist. Much easier said than done: the first neurologist they tried wasn't available for in person visits (COVID); the second didn't take CoRy's insurance; the third and the fourth weren't available till mid-August; and finally the fifth was able to see CoRy that day.

<div>Then, without a clear answer from the neurologist and the symptoms being what they were, CoRy and Greg decided to go to the ER at 5pm pt. He was admitted late Tuesday night around 10:30pm pt.
</div>

<div>CoRy has been through tons of tests: CAT (clean), EEG (no results yet), EKG (no results yet), MRI (head only, clean), and another COVID test (as CoRy puts it: CoRy 2, Covid 0). 
</div>

<div>He's on a heart monitor because his heart rate is very low. He thinks he might have to see a heart specialist. His neurological symptoms are still present (the severity is inconsistent and possibly dependent on his exhaustion), and his fatigue is through the roof. Just leaning up, with most of the work done by the mechanical bed, is exhausting. Texting is difficult. Even talking on the phone tiring. But he's powering through somehow.

<div>Right now, CoRy is in good care. It's his third day in the hospital (July 16th) with no visitors, no contact, waiting on results from tests to determine next steps. He's in the heart and vascular care wing of Providence St. Joseph's Medical Center in Burbank.
