I have had an amazaing oppportunity

I was just accepted to attend the New York Studio School for a summer marathon session, Why Paint the Figure , and even given a partial scholarship. Under the instruction of New York artist Elisa Jensen , this class would give me the opportunity to explore in depth the development of figurative imagery in art, visit museums and contemporary gallery shows to study specific works, and explore new forms of mediums that I would not have exposure to otherwise.

Unfortunately, the scholarship does not cover the full session, transportation, board or materials.

It has been a year and a half since I returned from my cross-country service trip to make community service my full time job. The stipend for Americorp has been meager- so little that we are encouraged to use foodstamps to cover our meals while doing work in our communities. The experience has been invaluable, and has taught me so much in a humbling and profound way, but I am now in a financially challenging situation.

Here in Burlington I have taken the same figure painting class four times, and volunteer every weekend to make sure I can take it for free. It is time to expand my horizons.

This class could really strengthen my work, give me opportunities as an arist that I would not have otherwise.

Please help me in pursueing this goal.

Here is how you can help:
A contribution of $23 to buy a tube of titanium white paint,

A contribution of $12 will buy one of 14 colored tubes of paint I am to invest in

A contribution of $30 will buy one of the 14 canvasses I need prepared for the class.

If I get 80 people to donate $10, the final cost of the class is covered.

The person who makes the larges contribution will receive a commisioned 24 in x 24 in painting on panel, your choice of subject matter (with the understanding that it will take time to produce such a work;)
