In the early morning hours of June 14, 2018, the Ewan family’s lives were changed forever. Mike woke up at 2:45 a.m. to find his beloved wife, Corrina, in medical distress. She was unconscious and gasping for breath. While waiting for paramedics to arrive, Mike and his eldest daughter, Shannon, administered CPR. The first responders tried to revive her but after an hour, it was determined that we had lost Corrina forever.
She was only 46 and in perfect health.
Corrina was one of a kind, the most patient and loving person. Her family meant everything to her. She adored them all and they were always her first priority in everything that she did. When the girls (Shannon, Elise, and Sophia) were newborn babies, she was that Mom that we all hoped to be - so relaxed, loving, and patient. You would never know if she was sick, hungry, or had been up all night. Corrina had the brightest smile and she lit up a room by walking into it. She loved unconditionally and had the biggest heart.
She and Mike were looking forward to celebrating 20 years of marriage this August.
This tragic event occurred just before Shannon’s graduation from
Claremont and Elise’s graduation from Bayside. Shannon was looking forward to seeing her mom on campus this fall when she begins her studies at UVic to become a French teacher.
Many people are wondering how they can help in this difficult time. As many of you know, Mike is a chemistry teacher at Claremont. With summer approaching, the family was counting on Corrina’s income from UVic to help with expenses. We can help the Ewan family to heal by alleviating the worry of the financial implications of such a tragic event. In lieu of flowers or food, the family would best be helped by a donation, however small.
Thank you to everyone who has provided support in various ways. The family is forever grateful.
