Correa Family - Harvey Relief Fund

Donation protected
The Correa family was hit with a double-whammy this summer. In May, Adrienne began dealing with a challenging health issue and a week and a half ago, Hurricane Harvey flooded their home.

My sister (Adrienne) and brother-in-law (Thiago) were able to wade through chest-high water to shelter while their five-year-old son was rescued in a canoe by their side. We are extremely thankful that they were able to safely escape the flood. However, the entire living area of their home was damaged beyond repair. With help from their friends, they’re in the process of taking their walls down to the studs, and still need to remove their flooring and gut their bathrooms, among other projects. Their furniture, mattresses, appliances, son’s toys, books, and other possessions were also lost in the flood. They’re currently living in a hotel and will be moving into an apartment as they begin the tough task of rebuilding their home.

Adding to the difficulty of their situation, Adrienne was diagnosed with severe shingles (Ramsay-Hunt syndrome) in her right ear earlier this summer, which paralyzed the right side of her face. She needs on-going treatment towards her recovery, which will continue for at least a year. Her first surgery takes place on September 6th and she will likely need additional surgery in the future. Between their home and this health issue, the Correa family is facing a long road ahead on two fronts.

We’ve been deeply touched by people asking how they might help Adrienne, Thiago and Caio. Your support is appreciated more than you know as they face the combined cost of rebuilding their home, temporary lodging and continued medical care. I’ve added Adrienne as the beneficiary of this campaign; she will withdraw any funds directly. All funds will be used to support clean-up and rebuilding of their home, replacing lost belongings, a place for their family to stay, and/or medical care related to Ramsay-Hunt syndrome. From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU for anything you might be able to donate, and sharing this post if you would like to.

Edit: To ensure that I'm meeting GoFundMe's posting requirements, I'm adding that my name is Claire Frasure and I live in Westfield, Indiana. I'm lucky to be sister, sister-in-law and aunt to the parties benefitting from this campaign. Specific uses for the funds are listed in the text above. Thank you!
