Cornell's Post Op Recovery

Friends and family,

I'm writing to you in a movement to support my dad,Cornell Coley  . Most of you know him as an artist, a musician, a man who has been committed to the community and youth development. Most recently he was an Artist in Residence for the City of Boston.

My dad is on his feet all the time; he's is always moving to bring joy to the lives of others. Finally, he took a rest for the sake of his own health. He had three hip replacement surgeries to try and get back to his full moving and grooving self. The latest was in mid-December to correct a surgery that went wrong. Although he planned to push and only be out for two months, he had an accident that tore out stitches and set back his timeline. 

All artists and self employed persons out there are particularly vulnerable when loosing work. Without a community behind them, lots of people like my dad who planned ahead but had an unexpected setback, are at risk of falling behind on regular life expenses like bills, rent, etc. On top of this, my dad is paying for his physical therapy, acupuncture, massage therapy and medicines out of pocket due to an unexpected gap in his health insurance.

So, we are calling on the community now. He will be back on his feet, but pushing to return to work is how the accident happened in the first place. Now is the time to lend your support. Thanks in advance!
