Cormack Drive & Conlans Rd - High Court Case

Donation protected
Hi all. We are a community from Cormack Drive and St Conlon's Rd, in Nenagh, CO. Tipperary.

Residents , led by our committee, have being forced to take legal proceedings, against Tipperary county Council, to the High Court.

We feel that our only option left is to seek a judicial review into the planning 8 process.

Previous agreements made by the council back in 1984, that there would be no more social houses built in Cormack Drive, and no more green area and play-space taken from our children are being completely ignored!

As you can Imagine it has outraged residents. Not just because of the broken agreements. Not just because three play areas for our kids and parents recreation are being torn up. Yet, the building is ALREADY TAKING PLACE, as we speak!! Even thought the council ALREADY KNOW we have started LEGAL PROCEEDINGS???

Aside from the problems in the estate and visibly upset children, there is also the ridiculousness of congestion that plagues our estate and Conlan's RD all year round. The estate is positioned right in the center of town and we are the heartbeat of congestion with three schools surrounding the estate. Not to mention the civic offices next door( which, by the way, the congestion around the civic offices, has been very well documented).

This is a planning nightmare and I guess that's why we have so much support around the town. This formula of panning has been accepted and is to be proposed for other central estates in the town.

We will fight for our own estate to the bitter end and we are fully aware that we also fight on behalf of the town of Nenagh. If this is the trend going forward, well then you may find us in time to come supporting another fight for common sense, in a different estate in our town.

There are numerous sites owned by the council around the town as an alternative.  Most notably, Stream, which already has the water and sewer works ready-built.  And rather than compressing space in the center of Nenagh, along with congesting traffic, maybe one of those sites could be considered instead.

We fear that if a trend like this begins in our town, it may spread through the county, and even nationwide.

Our goal is to find an alternative to the councils plan and we are looking for support from the public in Tipperary and nationwide, to further our goal.

Our legal battle is of course, a moral, and financial affair. And any support you could offer, in any way, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks mil for taking the time to read this.
