Cori’s 5th heart operation... and counting.

My name is Cori-Marie.
I am a 36 year old single mom to an amazing little girl.
I’ve always had an active and healthy lifestyle. I grew up playing soccer, and would bike ride and hike nearly every weekend with my family. After graduation, I joined the Navy and served for 6 years without any medical issues.
But something changed in 2014.
At first I thought it was just my imagination, maybe I was light-headed from not eating breakfast, or maybe I stood up too quickly- I mean come on, I was a 30-something year old exercising  5 days a week and loving life. I ignored the giant butterfly wings beating in my chest for about 9 months before I finally gave up and went to the ER. (It’s almost laughable how difficult it is for a single mom to find someone to take care of her child and carve out time to get to the ER before passing out.) I was diagnosed with RVOT. My heart, although structurally sound, had an attitude problem: it was creating extra beats (PVCs) and those beats were battling my regular heart rhythm. The PVCs would then trip into tachycardia and I would fall to the floor scared and unable to catch my breath; my heart was failing to pump blood throughout my body.
Over the last 5 years I have had a total of 5 heart operations: 4 ablations and 1 cyst removed off of my pericardium. My 4th abalation, performed on February 19th, revealed that my heart was creating at least 8 different types of PVCs. I went into the surgery optimistic that this would be my final operation- my doctor had successfully ablated my previous PVCs and I thought for sure this was it, I could finally fully recover and get back my opportunity to be healthy and run wild and crazy with my daughter.
Unfortunately I woke up from the operation with the news that my doctor is concerned about where some of the PVCs are originating from. They are now running approval for genetic testing to see if I might be diagnosed with CPVT. If this is true, (and all of my fingers and toes are crossed that it is not), then I am looking at additional operations in the near future.
This is the part where I humble myself and accept the truth that I need help.  My medical bills throughout the last 5 years have been piling up and there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight. I feel like I am financially drowning under the hospital and physician bills and can’t find a way out without asking for help.
