Corey's Recovery/ Medical Fund

September 14, 2016 changed our lives forever! My husband Corey walked into the hospital to have a cancerous tumor removed. During the surgery his heart stopped on the operating table. He died for 13 minutes!! He was diagnosed with an  Anoxic Brain Injury. He was given a life expectancy of one week and we were told that he would be a vegetable for the rest of his life, never know us, be on a ventilator for the rest of his life, and that death would be an improvement. Our lives changed in a day.

Corey better known as Big Corey is the strongest person that I know. I have watched my strong man go from being the life of the party, loudest person in the room, and very active in the lives of all our children  to fighting to struggle to live and breathe. Things got worse when Corey died a second time for 18 mins on December 24, 2016.  It is now a year and 2 months later after the initial injury.  Corey has defied many odds that were stacked against him and he continues to fight. His love for Pitbulls had people coin the phrase #Pitbullstrong. Corey remains as tenacious and strong as a pitbull inspite of the odds. I have fought for his life from Day 1 and I continue to fight for his life. Corey is the comeback kid!!

I am a Registered nurse and I  had to give up my career and salary to become my husband's Fulltime Nurse and caregiver. It was a huge decision to make and a decision I had to make due to the needs of my husband and the politics of healthcare. I now need the love, prayers, and financial support of others to help me to continue to care for Corey in our home as he recovers. Your love donations will help cover the expenses obtained by operating his medical equipment which includes a hospital bed, air compressor, suction machine, feeding pump, and chest physiotherapy machine. It will also help me to maintain the function of our household, purchase medical supplies, and necessities such as wipes, disposable underpads, and linen.  Hopefully, it will also allow me to be able to pay a fellow nurse to assist me with his care as I am the sole caregiver 24/7.

I continue to trust God and expect our miracle. Your token of love will help lift some of the burden so that I can fully concentrate on caring for Corey and helping him to recover.
