Corey Anderson's Cancer Treatment and Recovery

Donation protected
My name is Kari and I am writing this on behalf of my younger brother Corey and his beautiful family. Corey began treatment for cancer this week and is fighting for his three daughters, one son and a loving wife. There is never a good time to start a cancer fight, but the holiday season has been incredibly stressful navigating this. They need our help. Anything and everything will be used to pay for medical expenses, time away from work, insurance deductibles, travel to and from appointments, and childcare, as they do not live near family. Here is how his story began...

In April, Corey began experiencing pain in his groin and hip. Being an active 43-year-old, he assumed he pulled something and treated it as a muscular issue with stretching, ice and ibuprofen. When his pain went into his lower back, he went to a chiropractor who helped his back, but his hip pain persisted. In November, the pain was so severe that even walking was problematic. He went to an orthopedic physician who noticed dark spots on the x-ray of his hip bones. He was referred to an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in treating oncology patients. This doctor ran more tests, including blood tests and an MRI. The MRI showed that his hip bone was eaten away (see the video in the gallery) from what would indicate a cancerous tumor of some sort. He was then sent to an oncologist who did a biopsy of his hip bone and ordered more tests which showed he has a rare blood cancer. He is undergoing more tests to determine if this is isolated in his hip or if it is in other areas of his body.

This week, Corey underwent a bone marrow biopsy, and next week he will get a PET scan and hopefully some answers. He has a long road ahead of him that will include continual appointments, tests, radiation, and possibly chemo.

He is ready to fight and has a positive attitude and support system. We are raising funds so that he and his family can focus on his fight and what he needs. Thank you for helping in any way that you are able.
