'On The Battlefield': documentary of Cora Tucker

Hello friends,

For those who don't know me, I'm Ebony, advocate, Co-Producer, and eldest Granddaughter of our subject, civil rights leader, and first Black woman to run for Governor in Virginia, Mrs. Cora Tucker.

It's been a while since I've addressed our documentary, so let's catch up, but first, we're going back in time!
January 2019: my cousin, Timothy, says his friend was very interested in Tucker’s life and activism and would like to create a film about her work. I was extremely excited to learn that we would work with an independent studio and our Director was a woman.

2020: we would have an opportunity to tell an important story our way! From there, after thousands of emails and texts, hours on the phone, and travel from Virginia to Delaware, to California, we had a powerful story to tell!
The pandemic created extreme difficulty but the entertainment industry faced challenges I wouldn't have understood without guidance and care from our studio.

April 2021: I was in awe to see a nearly completed piece, our ideas, and visual concepts were on screen. Our audience applauded at the end, to say I was overwhelmed would be an understatement.

I'd like to pause here and thank our donors, your contribution to the film allowed us to get this far. To those who regularly ask about the film's progress, the positive feedback and excitement, sight unseen, is amazing.
2022: as our world continues to shock us to the core, with so much challenging us to be the best version of ourselves, 'On The Battlefield' and the universal story of power are needed now, more than ever.
Today: we're at the finish line! From conception to production we're discussing potential release dates! As an independent studio with a grassroots structure of funding lends us the special opportunity to tell my Grandmother's story our way.

We want to invite you, fans of the vision, to join us now as fans of the film and help us relaunch our campaign! Help us reach our goal by sharing this invite with 10 friends who'd be interested in this project and invite them to do the same!
So many stories of heroism and heart, like my Grandmother's, are often left unheard. Join us, let's keep Black women's history alive to inspire us all.

Peace and love,
Ebony
