Coraleigh's Medical Fund

Donation protected

On Saturday, December 9th at 5:11pm our beautiful daughter, Coraleigh Geoffrion, was born.

You can read the full story of her journey on her Caring Bridge site.

Like all parents, we were expecting and hoping for a relatively normal birth and were planning to be home with our baby in a few days.

However, Coraleigh had different plans and came into this world in her own way and is needing  additional major medical assistance to begin her life journey.

As she was delivered, Coraleigh's umblical cord was wrapped around her neck 4 times.  Our midwife had never seen this in her 20+ years of experience.  This caused an extreme lack of oxygen to her brain, which leads to the need for continued acute care for helping Coraleigh to navigate ongoing developmental challenges.

Within 3 hours of her birth, she got her first ambulance ride and was transferred to a NICU center in a hospital in Fort Collins.

We're grateful for the amazing care we're receiving here. And right now we are facing a minimum of 3 weeks, and the possibility of up to 6+ weeks in the NICU.

Even with our excellent health insurance, and what we financially set aside for pregnancy and childbirth, we will still have over $13,000 of unexpected medical expenses.

(During a normal birth, the costs are all covered under the mother's plan. However, when a child requires care in the NICU, they become their own patient with their own yearly maximum).

We plan to use your donations to help cover the cost of those expenses, as well as supplement our income to cover basic needs. We anticipate that some expenses will be due in the next two weeks, and another round of expenses in January.

Coraleigh will need our full attention for her time in the NICU and our near full attention in the weeks she returns home. This will limit Jason's ability to work full-time until life stabilizes a bit. We are grateful that Ellen is receiving a base salary through the end of March for tending to a few managerial duties from home.

Therefore, we have a set a goal of $15,000 to help us navigate the first months of Coraleigh's life.
