Love Street Benefit for Donovan Wallace
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Donovan Wallace. I'm a music lover and a professional tour bus driver for musical acts touring across North America.
On June 29th, I suffered an accident that broke my neck. While at the beach with my family, enjoying time together before I was scheduled to leave on tour for 2 months with the Blues Traveler, I fell in the shallow surf, which resulted in breaking my C7 vertebrae. I was rushed to the hospital and spent 5 days there until I was released with a CTO neck brace with the hope that my body would heal itself without surgery.
It wasn't until August when I went for a second opinion because I was getting new numbness in my legs. My new doctor checked my latest x-ray and informed me that I need immediate surgery due to a shift forward of 2mm for my C6-C7 vertebrae, which were pressing against my spinal cord. On September 27, I had spinal fusion surgery of my C5-C7 vertebrae. I spent another 5 days in the hospital for precautions. The doctor is happy with the results and has cleared me for physical therapy, which I started on 11/13.
I am now on the mend and looking forward to getting back on the road. The support from my family and friends has been amazing. Now, my music industry family is stepping up and putting on Love Street Benefit Concert to raise funds for my medical bills. I am very blessed and thankful for all the support.
