Coos County Youth Sports Field repairs

I'm raising money to benefit Coos County Youth Sports, a local 501(c) 3 non profit, and any donation will help make an impact. Our local K-12th grade soccer club has grown rapidly in the last year, almost doubling in number of registrations from previous years. Our area does not have any local fields or parks to hold games and practices, and we are not always able to use the local school fields, so we have rented the use of an old abandoned schools two fields (privately owned now) that is in disrepair. It was used in the past for baseball, and many of the areas have no grass because of the old baseball infields being constantly tilled up. We have been working to upgrade and fix the fields up, and it’s looking great in some areas. We acquired some old turf to lay over the baseball field and outdoor concrete basketball court, which has really helped for the young ages to have non muddy play fields. But there wasn’t enough turf to cover all of the field spaces, and our larger fields that the older kids play on is in severe disrepair. Constant rain and 5 days a week of practice and Saturdays and Sundays for games during the spring and fall seasons has created a muddy mess. The old fill dirt that was used to originally create the field has some gravel and glass shards that work their way up out of the dirt, and we are constantly picking that up. We have over 500 kids from our area and a few other towns nearby (44 teams currently) that use the two fields every week. We practice there and have all games there, so the field is in constant use. It gets dark early in the fall, so we rent portable lights to light the fields for games and practices, because the old school does not have any lights. We have to rent tractors to do repairs during and in the off season. All of the rental costs add up, and while our local businesses have been amazing when we ask for team sponsors and donations, it’s not quite enough to cover all of the recent expenses that have cropped up with this new large field space and it’s repairs to make it safe and useable for the kids. My husband Kevin and I started this non profit a few years ago because there was a need for it, and many kids were getting left out of being able to play for the other clubs. Our club is run by all volunteers, and is all inclusive no matter the skill level, and we have been able to fill a gap for many kids that would otherwise not be able to play anywhere else. We would like to make this the best experience possible for these kids, because seeing all of the happy and excited kids each season makes all of the volunteer hours and dedication worth every second.
