Save Cooper (Liver Shunt Surgery)

Donation protected
I'm Kyle and this is my 4 1/2 month old Golden Retriever puppy, Cooper.

My parents never let me have a dog so ever since I was young I wanted one. I went into the Army right after high school and AGAIN I couldn't have an animal. I finally am in college now going for my Radiologic Imaging degree. After one year of being in school without a dog I realized that the companionship of a dog is infinitely better than any frat brother or girlfriend. Insert Cooper. We've been partners for 6 weeks, I got him right after my hip surgery. Shortly after he came home with me it was apparent that something was wrong. He was super lethargic and never wanted to eat and he started having nuerologic episodes of running into walls and head pressing (a symptom of brain swelling). After some pricey vet visits and testing, we now know that he has a liver shunt.

Pretty much that means that his liver is not filtering his blood and he is constantly being poisoned. He will die with out surgery, as his shunt is too severe to manage with medication and diet.

Cooper is very underweight. He is 18 pounds, in comparison with his 35-42 pound littermates. He doesn't eat much, and when he does his body doesn't correctly process it.

Unfortunately as a student my cash reserves are not very plentiful and no one brings home a puppy expecting thousands of dollars in vet bills upfront.

I need your help.

I have waited so long for Cooper but I can't completely afford to care for a sick puppy. I can however provide him a long happy life once he has undergone surgery

I never thought I'd be on go fund me but there are some things that you just can't do alone.

I know the majority of people reading this are already very generous people who donate their time and money to many good causes. And you may not have extra to give but anyone who donates or spreads awareness is GREATLY appreciated. And for all of you who are reading this who don't know me personally thank you for reading and I very much believe in paying it forward, your donations will not go unnoticed. I will be posting pictures of Cooper now and once he is fully recovered from his surgery!
