Cooper Is A Trooper

Donation protected
Cooper McElvain was born February 18, 2018. He was placed on a ventilator immediately as he could not breath on his own and was life flighted to Norton Hospital in Louisville, KY the following day. Cooper has been diagnosed with CHARGE syndrome, which is a rare disease caused by a genetic disorder. This disease affects about 1 in 10,000 babies and affects multiple aspects of the body, many of which are life threatening. Cooper has undergone two surgeries so far and will have more down the road to continue to repair his airways. It is likely that because of the issues with his airways that he will need a feeding tube for his first year of life. Cooper will also need either a bone marrow transplant which will take place in Louisville, or a Thymus transplant which can only be done at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina.

As you can see, this child has a long road ahead of him. We are raising money to help his parents,  Allison and Wayne, who have been and will continue to be by his side every step of the way. This includes an undetermined time off work for them both, the cost of living out of town/travel added to their expenses at home, and medical costs. They also have another son, Chance, at home who they are having to be away from which is hard also. Any little bit will help to alleviate some stress for this family during this time.
