Shit sucks right now. We know this. COVID is tearing through LA and our local frontline workers are drowning.
I was texting with my friend who's a doctor at Kaiser here and I asked him if there was anything I could do to help. Like, when I gave birth in March, we brought the nurses and doctors individually wrapped cookies. Would something like sending cookies to the frontline workers in the Los Angeles ICUs be of any value? He responded with an emphatic YES. He said that hospital workers felt a lot of love back in March/April but now they're really in the trenches and a lot of the love AND free shit has dried up and, to quote him "we are so sad."
So that's what we're doing. We're not saving the world or ending the pandemic. We're just sending cookies (and a biiiiig thank-you card) to the hospital workers of Los Angeles. I talked to Aline about the idea and she said she would send this campaign to some of her friends too. So if you got this, you know one of us, but feel free to send it to anyone you think we might want to help. Every cent raised will go towards frontline workers (the $150,000 number is based on some calculations of how many people are working at LA's 25 busiest ICUs).
