My mom, Cookie Garvin has been diagnosed with advanced stages of Diffused B Cell Lymphoma and she could really use a lot of prayers and support. She has been my dad’s full-time care giver for a couple years now and is currently in the ICU unit of the hospital.
With this, I, being an only child, have been unable to work while being the support person at the hospital in dad's place and splitting my time between both of them.
Let me tell you a little bit about my mom and dad. My dad’s name is John Garvin. He has worked hard all his life to support my mom and myself, doing construction work, being gone for weeks at a time only to drive home on weekends to visit us and then back on the road again to support his family. My dad was diagnosed with COPD a few years ago. Since his diagnosis, his lung function has dropped to around 8% and is on full time oxygen and pretty much home bound. His only resort in treatment now is a single lung transplant.
My mom, also a hard worker her whole life, in support of the family, has always loved animals... you name it she has loved it. She worked at Metro-Vet Hospital for nearly 20 years until she was diagnosed with polymyositis, which is an auto-immune disorder that attacks the muscles in your body. She was heartbroken that she had to take leave from work once her Poly affected her hip and she had to have hip replacement surgery about a year ago. Lymphoma attacks most people with an auto immune disorder, so we are convinced this is why she is currently in the state she is in.
