Save Interviews on Behavior & Animal Training

Donation protected
In the 90s, Bob Bailey and Marian Bailey interviewed many scientists in the field of Behavior Analysis and Animal Training. Their work has contributed to our understanding of behavior and environment relations, that continues to this day to influence the development of our procedures and technologies.

To name a few, we have Israel Goldiamond, Don Baer, Ogden Lindsley, William Shoenfeld, Murray Sidman, Todd Risley, Montrose Wolf, Jack Michael, Tom Gilbert, Barbara Etzel, Francis Mechner, Fred Keller, Marian Bailey, Nathan Azrin, Karen Pryor, Ken Ramirez, Albert Bandura, Beatrice Barrett, Sidney Bijou, Donald Blough, and Joseph Brady.

We have located more than 200 interviews conducted by Bob and Marian. In the interview, they beautifully structured their questions and asked about their upbringing, the journey of their scientific work, and their lives.

It is on these giants' shoulders that we are all able to make significant life changes in the humans and animals that we serve. These interviews are real treasures for us all, and the future generation who enter this field.

Since the 90s, Bob Bailey has preserved all of the interviews. However, the interviews are in mini DV or standard DV format and need to be converted and digitalized to view. We are asking for help in preserving these treasures so future generations can learn from them.

Our mission is to digitalize all the interviews Bob and Marian did and make them all available to the public for free as quickly as we can.

So far, we have digitalized Israel Goldiamond's interview. We researched devices to convert different formats of cassettes. Still, we could not find the machines, so we used a digitalization service that Walmart provides to test with Israel Goldiamond's interview. And it worked!

We need to raise at least $12,000 to convert all the interviews to digital format.
This amount includes digitalizing the interviews, shipment between Bob’s house and our house, flash drives to send digital copies to Bob, and maintenance/unexpected fees.

As we receive your donations, we will use them to convert the cassettes. This way, the audience can access the interviews as we receive the digital version of the interviews. However, the order of digitalization would be determined by us and the company that we use to digitalize.

Your Benefit
After the interviews are digitized, we want to make the interviews easily available to the public for free. We will upload the interviews as we receive them to a YouTube Channel, Constructional Approach to Animal Welfare and Training. You can have access to the channel from the link below:

We have a Facebook page called “Constructional Approach to Animal Welfare and Training,” where you can find updates on the completion of this big project. We will share updates on the interviews that are uploaded on YouTube, so feel free to check it out: https://www.facebook.com/CAAWT

With the opportunity to make these interviews available for us to enjoy and learn from, we are thrilled to digitalize them on behalf of you.

We hope you can contribute any amount to help us all revisit our roots, further our science, and continue improving the lives of humans and the animals in their care.

Who We Are
We are Sean and Maasa. We recently launched an organization called Constructional Approach to Animal Welfare and Training, whose mission is to share the Constructional Approach (Goldiamond, 1974) and its many application to Animal Welfare and Training to improve human-animal relationships. As we were learning about the life of Israel Goldiamond from Joe Layng and Paul Andronis, we learned about 200+ interviews Bob and Marian did back in the 90s. As part of our mission, we wish to disseminate these amazing interviews, for us all to continue to learn from the pioneers in the field of Behavior Analysis.

Thank you for your support!
