Convergence Ballet Needs You

Donazione protetta
Summer in Phoenix means sunny days, swimming pools, and of course, professional ballet! For years, dancers and choreographers have been coming to Arizona from all over the world to work with Convergence Ballet Company.Cuban dancers Joan Rodriguez and Taimy Miranda debuted with Convergence in 2016 and instantly impressed audiences with their creative talent and technical skill. This year, for its fifth season, Convergence welcomes two new dancers: Jadyn Reddy and Dustin Crumbaugh. These new additions will join CBC’s returning dancers at the company’s summer performance, ELAN, which will be held on August 12 and 13, at Paradise Valley Community College’s Center for the Performing Arts. Rodriguez and Miranda are among the returning dancers, with Rodriguez also contributing original choreography.Jadyn Reddy’s early professional roles include working with Tony Award Winner Ben Vereen as a hired soloist, as well as lead roles in the Ernie Flatt tribute concert and Jazz in Arizona Showcase. She is currently a company member with James Sewell Ballet in Minneapolis. Dustin Crumbaugh, of Houston is currently in his sixth season with The Big Muddy Dance Company and teaches for several dance schools around the greater St. Louis area.“This fifth season is the perfect unity of music and dance,” says artistic director Jennifer Cafarella. “We have new world premieres from our resident choreographer Daniel Marshalsay, along with new works from fellow company member Joan Rodriguez and new to Arizona’s audience, Eric Rivera. I am particularly happy that Mr. Rivera is creating a piece for the company. I have been a fan of his since his days as a principal dancer with Ballet Hispanico.”Marshalsay adds, “I have been inspired to create something to challenge and highlight the diversity of the dancers Convergence boasts. This creation will be fast paced and very athletic, using classicism as its base of the movement as well as the musical inspiration. I am also looking to use some lighting and stage effects to create a level of whimsy and mystery to the work. I am excited to get into the studio and start working with all of the talented dancers this season and begin the process of putting this show together.

With the ever growing arts population in Phoenix, theater costs has risen and we are asking for your help to help us accomplish our season.

Donors are the heart of our organization. Without you our work would not be possible. Your gift supports a company of talented dancers and education and community outreach programs that impact hundreds of lives throughout Arizona. Every donation counts. Every donor makes a difference. Please give today!

We need your support to help us fund the rest of the season!  The performances are August 12 at 7pm and 13th at 2pm at Paradise Valley Community College Center for Performing Arts.
