Continuing the Fight of Our Father

Donation protected

On October 24th 2019 our father Jon Caves was diagnosed with Metastatic Adenocarcinoma of the lung, stage 3A. For those of you who know our family and our past, you know that the “cancer card” has been dealt to us quite a few times, starting with his eldest daughter Kristin being diagnosed with a rare muscle cancer called Rhabdomyosarcoma when she was only 11 years old. Fast forward to 2018, his youngest daughter Kelly was diagnosed with stage 2A Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Breast Cancer at 30 years old. Throughout these cancer diagnoses, there has been one thing that has shown through it all, the support and love of family.   Our father is a veteran of the Army, a true nature lover, avid motorcycle rider, a husband, and the best grandfather. We cannot express how lucky we are the have this man in our lives. He is always there for us, no questions asked. He has supported us through and through, never doubting us along the way. When this diagnosis hit, you could imagine our worlds were turned upside down again, but this will not stop our fight and it will not diminish our strength in each other.   These past few weeks have been a whirl wind of emotions, know all too well from the past. With this recent diagnosis, we were told they were not able to do surgery due to the area the tumor is located and the fact that it has spread to the lymph nodes that are near his heart. Because surgery was not an option, our father will be traveling back and forth to Strong Memorial Hospital, Monday through Friday, to go through weeks of, receiving very harsh chemotherapy drugs (Cisplatin and Pemetrexed). While receiving his treatments, our father has been pulled out of work for the time being, so we know that times will be tough for the road ahead and any and all help would be greatly appreciated, big or small. Thank you for your time and your support. Please also continue to pray/send good and positive vibes our family’s way as we go through this hurdle together.  Thank you, thank you.
