Rides and Reins is a Therapeutic Riding Center in Slinger, WI for children & adults with special needs (autism, brain injuries, Cerebral Palsy, Downs Syndrome, MS, MD, Spina Bifida, spinal cord injuries & more).
Currently with our cold Wisconsin winters, the riding ends November 1st each year due to no heat in the riding arena with start up again May 1st. To extend the riding year 'round it will require insulating & heating the riding space.
Rides and Reins provides the special needs riders with physical, emotional and cognitive needs through the therapeutic effects of horseback riding. Did you know that the walking gait of the horse simulates the movement of a person walking on 2 legs? During a therapeutic riding session, these actions relax & stimulate unused muscles while actually building muscle tone, improving balance, coordination as well as patience and self esteem for those riders.
Each Spring we observe some regression in physical & cognitive abilities with many of the riders due to the time off. Please help fund this worthy cause.
