Continue gun policy research
I am a statistician that published a scientific article showing that concealed carry of firearms in the US increases violent crime by 7.5% and property crime by 6.1%. In 2016 this corresponded to 66.000 additional violent crimes and 352.000 property crimes. With your help, I can present these results at scientific conventions and continue with much-needed follow-up research.
I performed this study as a private researcher out of personal interest. I could use your support to present my work at conventions like JSM2023, and write many more scientific articles:
-I used state-level data from 1959 up to 2016. I want to extend this to 2022.
-I also want to use county-level crime data.
-I want to investigate the effects of gun ownership and open carry of firearms on crime.
-Take into account the effect of related policies such as police funding on crime.
-Estimate the effect of concealed carry separately for urban and rural areas.
Any donations will be used to support my work, including buying computer equipment, scientific journal subscriptions and attendance to courses and conferences.
