Whelp, my parents have been through the ringer lately...
On March 10th of this year, my 63-year-old dad was laid off. Less than a week later, on March 16th, my mom was diagnosed with Uterine Cancer. She ended up having a full hysterectomy on April 21st and went through over a month of almost daily radiation. She has since made a full recovery.
On top of all of that, they had to put their beloved dog of eleven years to sleep during the hardest point in their journey.
August 14th threw another curveball when my mom went to the eye doctor and found out she had a torn retina. She had laser surgery to correct this, but she is limited in movements for at least another two weeks.
My dad was able to recieve unemployment for a short time, but that ran out in June. They do have insurance, but because he was laid off without severence, they are having to pay the full price to recieve it.
I would love to help ease their worries financially at least a small amount. Their dream is to retire in a few years, but I know that will be a struggle for them due to the fact that they are having to heavily dip into their retirement in order to stay afloat.
It's really hard to watch them go through this. I would love them to feel the love from the people in their (and my) lives. They are awesome parents and they don't deserve the stress that life has thrown at them lately.
