Arson, leaves 3 Malawian families with nothing

Dear Friends, Family, Colleagues, and all our extended Community too,

We are reaching out to you directly to help a British lady working as a charity worker and 3 incredible families in Malawi recently rendered destitute after a mob attack to rebuild their lives... Please do read the story below. Your support is massively appreciated!

There is so much to challenge us in these times and despite that, there are moments that are so shocking that they make us all sit up and take stock of the things that matter and to consider how our small deeds can make a huge difference and change others' lives fundamentally.  Usually, shocking events happen on the news - but this time it was a lot closer to home - impacting our immediate family and their nearest including deeply committed employees and charity workers. On Sunday 18 October, our family and friends living on Kumbali Lodge and Farm in Malawi experienced a shocking mob attack that left the farm materially damaged, burnt 7 vehicles, a kindergarten built by the family for local villages, and shockingly - the houses and all the belongings of 3 Malawian families and a female British aid worker to the ground as well as all the research and facilities of 2 local charities located on the farm involved in local community outreach and conservation work with bats and big cats/ hyenas.  While we are also working with the charities devastated by this event, our immediate concern and aim is to help 4 destitute families - mothers, fathers and children aged between 3 and  17 to rebuild their lives - (1) Sali Mwale and his family;  (2) Cosmos Joseph and his family, and (3) Rabson Damiano and his family as well as (4) a Britsh lady, Angelena Efstathiou, who swapped her calm UK life to volunteer in Malawi as part of a Bat and community charity. These adults and children have lost everything they own their livestock, clothes, toys, school books and bags, adult tertiary study books, house furniture, bedding, cutlery, and crockery, bicycles, scooters, old laptops as well as a few special paintings and inherited items from their late parents.

If you are able to, please can you help these wonderful people with whatever you can spare? Any donation - little or larger will go a long way to help them rebuild. The target we set is based on an itemized list of everything each person lost. If you are not able to help at this time, please do help us by forwarding this onto your community as well.

All our very best wishes and thanks
