SUPPORT CONSCIOUS YOUTH TO SUPPORT YOUNG PEOPLE

Conscious Youth CIC is a community interest company (not for profit) based in Kirklees. The organisation was established in 2016 and has worked with over 900 young people to date. Our work challenges inequalities by creating opportunities for young people to influence change and make a positive difference in their communities.
 
We are yet to see the full impact of the challenges we are currently facing in the world. The Covid-19 Pandemic and the Black Lives Matter protesting  will change lives and have adverse effects on many young people. Especially the young people we work with who come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Academics predict we will see a rise in youth mental illness, unemployment and youth crime with widening gaps in inequality.
 
We want to do something about this, and we are sure you do too!



 
We understand the immense pressure that the NHS and other support agencies are under and believe that our programme ‘Stepping up and Stepping out’ can be instrumental in providing that much needed support at grass roots level. After Covid-19 young people will need community-based intervention and support, and this is just one of the ways we can play a part in rebuilding our community.
 
Our award winning programme ‘Stepping up and Stepping out’ was developed with young people to address the gaps in their mental and emotional development. The programme will explore new themes equality and social justice, voice and influence as well as image and identity, values, relationships, boundaries and future vision.
 
Our aim is to use the money raised to develop and deliver ‘Stepping up and Stepping out’ with a new focus, building resilience to deal with the new challenges brought on by recent events.
 
We also intend to create more culture sharing opportunities for young people across Kirklees. Our initiative ‘Breaking Barriers’, will provide young people with spaces and events to share their experiences, heritage and culture amongst their peers and the wider community.
 
All funds raised will be invested into these projects to support local young people. We aim to engage with over 500 young people, through direct delivery of the programme, online workshops/talks and culture sharing events. We will provide updates on our social media platforms of the progress and impact.
 
We are calling upon our community, friends near and afar, family and allies to help us fundraise £10,000 towards creating tangible change for young people in Kirklees and also nationally/internationally digitally. Our work will be delivered digitally and face-to-face according to social-distancing guidelines.
 
£13 covers the cost of 1 young person to attend an online workshop/talk.
 
£35 covers 1 mentoring session for a young person.
 
£350 covers the cost of 1 young person to our Stepping up and Stepping out programme.
 
£500 covers the cost of a culture sharing event.
 
£10,000 covers the cost of the ‘Stepping up and Stepping out’ programme to be delivered to 25 young people - includes; mentor meetings, 6 workshops/talks and a Unified event for up to 100 young people.
 
Any extra money fundraised will go towards covering the cost of producing educational resources, providing additional mentoring sessions for young people who require extra support and funding more young people to be on the programme. As an organisation we plan to commit more of our time and energy to addressing inequality and social justice.
