Conrad F. Toepfer, Jr. passed away on April 20. For more than 60 years, Connie touched the lives of
thousands of educators, and, through them, millions of children. If your child or grandchild attends a
school that puts kindness, compassion and the welfare of children first, Connie’s efforts helped create
that climate. Now, we are asking that you return a small part of his generosity.
Connie’s family needs help. Jeannie, his wife of nearly 60 years, requires 24/7 care. His daughter,
Kathy, their primary care-giver, has been hospitalized and in resident rehabilitation since December 9
due to on-going health issues. Therefore, Jeannie is without the care she requires. Their son, Michael, is
able to remain with his Mom for a couple of weeks, but must return to his own home several hundred
miles away.
The cost of in-home care for her is $4,200 per week and a residential placement would be around
$14,000 per month. Connie was a life-long teacher and professor who was generous to those in need
throughout his life. His family is not wealthy, and, like many of us, is unprepared for this perfect storm of
health crises. Kathy is unable to work, and Conrad’s death will result in the loss of some Social Security
income for Jeannie.
A group of his friends, students and colleagues have set up this Go Fund Me page to seek your help in
