We are the San Rafael Pro Cordillera Association, an ONG founded in 1997 with the objective of conserving the "San Rafael Park Reserve", one of the last remnants of the Alto Paraná Atlantic Forest. One of the 200 most biologically important places on Earth.
We have been invited to participate in the "III Congress of Protected Areas of Latin America and the Caribbean (III CAPLAC)" and we need your help to be able to attend and present our environmental, conservation and community work projects.
The third edition of the Congress of Protected Areas of Latin America and the Caribbean (III CAPLAC) will take place on March 17 and 20, 2019 in Lima, Peru, under the slogan "Solutions for welfare and sustainable development".
This event has been preceded by those held in Santa Marta, Colombia in 1997 and in Bariloche, Argentina in 2007. The Congress also has the interest to share its debates and conclusions in the global events of IUCN; in that sense, Congress must incorporate the Sydney Commitment (emanating from the 2014 World Parks Congress) and take a regional position to the next World Conservation Congress in 2020.
The program of the III Congress is a joint effort of several organizations in the region, including the FAO Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean; the Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP); the IUCN Regional Office for South America; the World Commission on Protected Areas of IUCN in South America; the Latin American Network of Technical Cooperation in National Parks, other Protected Areas, Wild Flora and Fauna (REDPARQUES); the Commission of Education and Communication of the IUCN (CEC); WWF; Sernanp (Peru); Chico Mendes Institute - ICMBio (Brazil); Pronatura (Mexico) and National Natural Parks of Colombia.
Objectives of the Congress:
Promote the best management of protected areas at the service of society.
Evaluate and strengthen the contribution of protected areas to international commitments of nature conservation for welfare and sustainable development.
Strengthen and renew the management of protected areas against current and future needs.

Somos la Asociación Pro Cordillera San Rafael, ONG fundada en el año 1997 con el objetivo de conservar la "Reserva para Parque San Rafael", uno de los últimos remanentes del Bosque Atlántico del Alto Paraná. Uno de los 200 lugares biológicamente más importantes de la Tierra.
Hemos sido invitados a participar del " III Congreso de Áreas Protegidas de Latinoamérica y el Caribe (III CAPLAC)" y necesitamos de tu ayuda para poder asistir y presentar nuestros proyectos ambientales, de conservación y trabajos comunitarios.
Con el lema “Soluciones para el bienestar y el desarrollo sostenible” se realizará entre el 17 y 20 de marzo de 2019 en Lima - Perú, la tercera edición del Congreso de Áreas Protegidas de Latinoamérica y el Caribe (III CAPLAC).
Este evento ha sido precedido por los realizados en Santa Marta, Colombia en 1997 y en Bariloche, Argentina en 2007. El Congreso también tiene el interés de compartir sus debates y conclusiones en los eventos globales de la UICN; en ese sentido, el Congreso debe incorporar el Compromiso de Sídney (emanado del Congreso Mundial de Parques de 2014) y llevar una posición regional al próximo Congreso Mundial de la Naturaleza, en 2020.
El programa del III Congreso es un esfuerzo conjunto de varias organizaciones de la región, entre las que se destacan la Oficina Regional de la FAO para América Latina y el Caribe; la Oficina Regional para América Latina y el Caribe del Programa de Naciones Unidas para el Medio Ambiente (PNUMA); la Oficina Regional de la UICN para América del Sur; la Comisión Mundial de Áreas Protegidas de la UICN en América del Sur; la Red Latinoamericana de Cooperación Técnica en Parques Nacionales, otras Áreas Protegidas Flora y Fauna Silvestres (REDPARQUES); la Comisión de Educación y Comunicación de la UICN (CEC); WWF; Sernanp (Perú); Instituto Chico Mendes — ICMBio (Brasil); Pronatura (México) y Parques Nacionales Naturales de Colombia.
Objetivos del Congreso:
Promover la mejor gestión de las áreas protegidas al servicio de la sociedad.
Evaluar y fortalecer la contribución de las áreas protegidas a los compromisos internacionales de conservación de la naturaleza para el bienestar y el desarrollo sostenible.
Fortalecer y renovar la gestión de las áreas protegidas frente a las necesidades actuales y futuras.
