Connors expedition to Kenya

Hi, my name is Connor and I am 14 years old.

I have been offered the most amazing opportunity to visit Kenya for 4 weeks in the summer of 2026 to help the local community.

We will be working with them to improve living standards for those communities in an ecologically sensitive and sustainable way. I may help to build classrooms and schools, instal a clean water supply for an entire village, construct marketplaces for communities to generate income, build new homes for vulnerable families and support micro-finance initiatives for local women’s groups.

I will also be helping the wildlife – I may be digging water holes for elephants, planting food trees for orangutans, assisting with sea turtle conservation, planning environmental education workshops for local schools, making beautiful elephant dung paper art that the local community can sell, and making elephant proof fences to prevent them from going into areas where there are poachers.

The expedition also tackles critical environmental issues such as deforestation, pollution and over-harvesting of wildlife. There is also a strong focus on marine conservation. I may be carrying out beach clean ups, collecting discarded flip-flops to recycle into eco-art, recycling plastic waste into eco-friendly building materials and cleaning the beaches to protect turtle nesting sites.

It will not be all work, work, work for the whole four weeks though - phew! I will be going on a mountain trek and going on a safari too!! :-)

I am making this go-fund me page to ask for your help. The trip is going to cost £4,380, plus there is an extensive kit-list, vaccinations to pay for, insurance excess to pay and money to take with me. I will be carrying out lots of fund-raising activities to try and build the money pot up, but Camp International advise that a go-fund me page is also a really good way to raise the funds I need to go on this worthwhile, life changing experience.
