My name is Connor Burgess and I am a Life Scout from BSA Troop 39 in Halifax, Ma. I am working towards the Eagle Scout, the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America. One of the requirements for the rank is to complete a service project that will benefit the community.
I began scouting in 2012 as a Cub scout in pack 239. After achieving my arrow of light I crossed over to Troop 39. I am also a member of the Order of the Arrow, Boy Scouts National Honor Society.
For my Eagle Scout project, I will be building a 20’ by 20’ pavilion for the new HOPS playground. The pavilion will sit on the right side of the playground behind the bank of swings. It will be located inside the fenced area of the playground. The Pavillion will also sit on a 20 ft. by 20 ft. concrete slab. Inside the pavilion, there will be four picnic tables similar to the tables located at the elementary school playground and will provide seating in the shade. There will be a concrete walkway connecting the pavilion to the rubbered walkway of the playground. This pavilion will allow parents and their children to have a nice shaded area while enjoying their time at the playground.
Scouts are encouraged to seek donations from the community. Any contribution you would be able to make would be appreciated.
I am seekings donations to cover the price for materials of the pavilion and the concrete slab. I plan to order the Meramec pavilion from the Americana Outdoors company. The pavilion will be shipped preassembled. Dunn Rite Concrete will pour the concrete slab, the walkway, and help install the footings of the Pavilion. Some of my other supplies needed will be hand tools and refreshments for any volunteers assisting in the construction. My goal is to collect donations by March 1st with a target to complete the rebuild by the end of April.
