Conner's Nicaragua Mission Trip

Donation protected
This past summer I had the opportunity to travel to Managua, Nicaragua with my good friends Noah and Josh, to see the country and visit Josh’s family. The McGrew family moved down to Nicaragua as missionaries and have since started their own organization, called Connect Ministries. While we were down there on vacation, we got the opportunity to see the work they are doing in the community and the relationships they’ve built in their time there.

I was deeply inspired by the people I met in Nicaragua and the work that I saw God doing, and have been hopeful that I would someday get an opportunity to go back. This spring I, along with 20 of the young men I live with, will get that opportunity. We will be traveling down to Managua to work with Connect Ministries in their efforts to connect people with Christ and each other. We will be working with a local soccer team consisting of young men around our age to assist in the preparation of a plot of land that will become their very own soccer field. Many of these young men come from backgrounds void of support and intentional relationship, and because of this often find themselves spending time in the streets drinking and sleeping around. Through my experience as a soccer player I have seen the incredible impact this sport can have on people, and trust that that God can use it to change lives. I am excited to join Connect Ministries in using soccer to create an environment focused on love and encouraging engagement in Christ through the sport they love.

In addition to this, we have the opportunity to spend time in the inner city of Managua, playing baseball, serving meals, and showing love to some of the boys growing up in this community. These MIMA boys are often locked out of their houses and left outside with nowhere to go, left to the same poor influences many of the soccer guys deal with. Connect Ministries has built a relationship with MIMA to equip these boys with the resources they need to grow up and experience the love of Jesus.

As we embark on this trip, I would ask that you please consider being a part of this journey with me through prayer. Prayers not just for the trip itself, but for the preparation, each member of the team, and for myself as well. I pray that God can use a couple of college guys to change lives and spread the love of Christ that I’ve been able to experience.

In addition to prayer, if you feel like God has put it on your heart, I would invite you to partner with me financially. The cost of the trip is $1800, which includes my flight to Nicaragua, ground transportation, food, and other expenses. While I have been working and will be contributing to this trip on my own, it still remains a very expensive trip, thus if you're able and feel inclined, I would greatly appreciate your donation. Even a little bit goes a long way.

Thank you so much for considering this. I know it will be a great encouragement to me to have the involvement and support of family and friends. Any donations received over the amount for my personal trip would be used to support those I will be traveling down with, as well as Connect Ministries.
