Help Save Conner the Cat

Hi everyone. We are asking for help for Conner. We are PURRS Naperville.. the largest cats only rescue in DuPage. We pull in cats from Dupage Animal Control and Chicago Animal Control among others. We pull from old, young, special needs to injured cats. This post is regarding our latest pull from Chicago Animal Control and a cat Conner.
Conner is a 7 month old large boned kitten who has a very serious genetic heart defect. He was an owner give up from a multi cat household and PURRS Naperville pulled him in May 19 from Chicago Animal Control. Nothing was noted by the CACC vets at the time of intake and were were surprised by his condition. Conner breathes very heavily at rest, is very thin (3lbs, 15oz) and can only walk a few steps before collapsing exhausted in his bed. We took him to our vet immediately for blood work and xrays. Blood work was normal. Xrays showed an enlarged heart with no fluid around the lungs or heart. Suspicion is a PDA which a genetic heart defect that is one of the few that can be corrected via surgery. We have Conner set up for a echocardiogram tomorrow to verify the diagnosis and have already talked to Purdue Small Animal Hospital for costs.
Costs are expected to be $5500
Echocardiogram tomorrow is expected to be $550
We are a rescue group and do not have funds for this but but want to do what we can for this guy and absent surgery this little guy WILL die. With surgery he should live a normal life. We do not often like to make decisions based on money alone but this is a decision we need monetary help. We ask and Conner asks for support o help pay for his life saving surgery and help this guy live the life he never had. He is definately a fighter and is a sweet soul.
Please help us and help Conner. This is not a lost cause. This is not a waste. Your money can help save Conner's life. PDA surgery is routinely performed for this situation on dogs and cats and results are dramatic. Animals can live a normal life after surgery.
