Connected everywhere at all times -ZIM Connections

Giulia and I decided to embark on the adventure of creating our own business. We have been friends for 12 years and shared millions of great moments. Many of these moments have been while travelling. We encountered the same problem during our last years of travelling internationally: connection. When you arrive at a new destination that is not included in your domestic plan you will need to buy a local sim card to tell your loved ones you arrived safely, or even paying enormous amounts of money for roaming to tell your boss the news about your meeting.

10 years ago, you had to queue at the airport to get a taxi, but today you can just order an Uber: fast with just one click. eSIM technology has been available since 2015, right there on our hands, as almost all mobile phones manufactured after 2015 have an eSIM chip embedded. SIM cards have been present for the past 30 years. This humble SIM card has survived for quite a while, but now it finally looks like it’s on its way out. Instead, the new generation of eSIM technology is here to save the day. The new embedded SIM card, a much smarter technology which is permanently integrated into a device. It’s a small chip that’s used to authenticate your identity with your carrier. So, why if the technology exists, we still have to go through the painful moment of queuing to buy a local SIM card and then changing it, furthermore losing our domestic number for a few days/weeks? Why hasn’t this been invented yet?

And this is how we started ZIM Connections Ltd, an application that will embed the eSIM technology into an easy-to-use app for leisure and business travel. ZIM will be able to provide this opportunity by making partnerships with local mobile providers all over the world. Moreover, ZIM will hold a GLOCAL vision. We think globally but act locally, by working with local providers. By being the first ones to work with local partners, we have a clear pricing advantage against our competitors.

We have validated our business model and customer base, through many interviews and surveys, and have gotten great traction to our website. At the moment, we need some money to start building our MVP  (minimum viable product) and the technical features of our company. ZIM is planning on-going live-in July 2021.
